Well I’ve finished part three of four on my project, and have a good start on the final piece, however I keep forgetting to take my camera. The second part you see in my previous post is gone. I’ve completely revamped part two, so when you see the final post but you don’t see the red painting, that’s why.

Death By Love – Wow
August 23, 2008 by btcainFor some reason since i can’t embed the video, you can watch it Here
“Death by Love: Reflections on the Cross.” Revisiting who Jesus and the cross is, deserves more attention today than most people would like to think. Over time Christians arguably could begin losing sight of the cross, what it meant and what it means for us today. Mark Driscoll brings us back to the fundamental aspects of the cross and the practical implications of a proper view of the cross in this day. Some church movements today focus on the incarnation, leaving out the cross and the exaltation of Jesus Christ and therefore undermine the deity of Jesus Christ and the gospel. The correct view of the cross gives way to the correct view of the atonement and ultimately giving us the clear picture of the gospel that we are to preach today. Driscoll looks at penal substitution, propitiation and expiation. By gaining the fuller picture of the cross we may be faithful in building God’s Kingdom with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 34:18 – “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.”
- Webster’s Blog
The other day we watched this video during our Bible class at school, and it really stuck with me for some reason. Usually when i see these kinds of videos, i think of made-up testimonies for the typical mainstream christian reader who picks up any book from the “Family Christian Bookstore” and believes everything it says. This video however, was different.
In the video, you notice that it is repeated how each story found their “Propitiation” in Jesus Christ.
Propitioation
“That which propitiates; atonement or atoning sacrifice; specifically, the influence or effects of the death of Christ in appeasing the divine justice, and conciliating the divine favor.”
The stories within this book are so incredibly real, its almost painful to listen to them, though for some reason i am drawn to keep listening for this reason; things that are in these stories, sadly, happen every single day. It is important that we do not turn a blind eye to these tragedies, because someone you know may be going through some of these things. Encircle those affected by this epidemic with love and compassion.
One thing that i always try to keep in mind is; Ignorance and rejection are the first few steps to hypocrisy.
New Art Project
August 20, 2008 by btcainI’m currently working on a new art project at school. I’m planning to start posting pictures of progress… if I can find a camera!
My new artwork is somewhat a combination of Pop-Art and Abstract. The theme of this new project is going to be “Though our outside may change, let our hearts remain pure.”
Hopefully i will get more pictures and information up soon, but untill then, see you around
School
August 16, 2008 by btcainWell, school is back and i can honestly say i’m kind of excited. I’m going to a semi-new school this year. I had gone to this school from 6-8th grade, went to a different school from 9-10, and now i’m back!
The people there have honestly changed a lot, which isn’t really a BAD thing, I still just need to adjust to the environment.
My Schedule:
- Integrated Chem/Physics
- English
- Bible
- History
- Study Hall
- Speech
- Art
I think my favorite class this year may be either my speech or art class. In my speech class i only have 2 other students with me ( Which is still amazing, even IF our school is small ). My art class is going to be pretty amazing too. Since i’m an “advanced” student, the teacher has decided to let me bring in some canvases and paint on those during class. Maybe soon i’ll have some more art to post?

New Website!
August 14, 2008 by btcainWell i’ve been working my butt off for a new website/homepage. If you want to check it out, just go to http://mindofcain.co.nr.
So far i haven’t made too much progress, because i’m still working on the “official” layout. The layouts you see on the website i didn’t create… sadly… because i’m working on a new layout from scratch.
I have some of my artwork posted as well… check it out
Enjoy!
Tv
August 13, 2008 by btcainWell i was watching TV today, and i decided to make a short list of my favorite TV shows. I really enjoy shows that show creative talent, as well as a good story line.. So here it goes..
————————————————————————————-
The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
![]()
“Flapjack was raised at sea by a talking whale. But his peaceful life was turned upside down one day when he met Captain K’nuckles. The old sailor filled up his head with dreams of high seas ADVENTURE!” -Cartoon Network
What can i say about this amazing show? ADVENTURE!! Thurop Van Orman’s Flapjack is quite incredible, from its high-quality artwork, and combination of “Claymation” and traditional animation, it creates an action-packed, adventurous experience that’s rather fun to watch!
- did i also mention ADVENTURE!!?
—————————————————————————
Family Guy
“Family Guy is an animated American television sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane and airing on Fox. The show centers on adysfunctional family that lives in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island. The show uses frequent “cutaway gags,” jokes in the form of tangential vignettes that do not advance the story.
Family Guy was canceled once in 2000, and again in 2002, but strong DVD sales and the large viewership of reruns on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim convinced Fox to resume the show in 2005. It is the first canceled show to be resurrected based on DVD sales and the only one to be resurrected twice on that basis” – Wikipedia
Family guy is a random show, which is really one of the only reasons i like it. I can honestly say there are times with family guy where i haven’t stopped laughing, but unfortunately there has been times where i didn’t laugh once. Family guy started off strong, and probably near cancellation they lost their luster, but then they came back twice as strong. I’m more of a fan of the newer Family Guy episodes than the old, maybe because i haven’t seen the newer ones quite so many times…
